Testing but enjoyable in Sailing Arabia The Tour

Sailing Arabia The Tour

Sailing Arabia The Tour has been testing but extremely enjoyable so far. We have raced to the west for three days all upwind. Now we set off from Doha heading east and it seems it is still to be upwind. Unbelievable!! We are on leg 3 the long sail across the Gulf to Khasab in Oman. The incentive is the girls are sailing home so I hope it means we will be sailing a little faster. We saw signs of it today in the in port racing. We improved so much, that by the final race we led the fleet at the first windward mark and were second around the leeward mark. Sadly the results ended with us in fifth. Incredibly close racing and a huge improvements for Al Thuraya Oman Airports Womens Team. Let’s hope we can do it again but this time in the offshore leg.

Dee Caffari

British yachtswoman Dee Caffari is the first woman to have sailed single-handed and non-stop around the world in both directions and the only woman to have sailed non-stop around the world three times. In 2006 Dee became the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world against the prevailing winds and currents and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her achievement.
