Sailing Arabia The Tour has some frightening statistics that I wanted to share before we head off into the warm blue waters of the Gulf next week.

It is the 6th edition of the race, and my 3rd participation. There are 9 teams taking part involving a total of 65 crew, representing 6 countries. We sail 730 miles in total and we have five offshore legs and 3 in port race days totalling 14 races all together. There are 30 people in the organisation making this event happen and we get 1 lay day.

I am exhausted before we even start. Follow #sailingarabia at www.sailingarabiathetour.com

In port races start on Monday 15th February and we head offshore on Tuesday 16th February.

Dee Caffari

British yachtswoman Dee Caffari is the first woman to have sailed single-handed and non-stop around the world in both directions and the only woman to have sailed non-stop around the world three times. In 2006 Dee became the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world against the prevailing winds and currents and was awarded an MBE in recognition of her achievement.
