So have you all like me been making plans for 2016? Attempting to make this year the biggest and best yet. Setting yourself resolutions and goals, some of which are attainable and some of which we all know will silently drift away and be forgotten. Have you been braving the rain to fulfil the new training regime you have set yourself? Is there an event you have entered to make sure you have something to aim for so the training stays on schedule?
Well regardless of how high you have set the bar for yourself, doing some new and fun activities and spending more time with friends and family are always on the New Year agenda and for me this year is no different.
2016 is going to be a ‘yes’ year. There are going to be exciting things happening and it is starting already. I will be at he London Boat Show, speaking at The Show Theatre on “Big Name Wednesday”. I will be joining host, Alec Wilkinson, alongside a guest line up including Sir Ben Ainslie, Mike Golding OBE and Martin Whitmarsh CEO Land Rover BAR. Following this show I will be addressing a reception for women in the marine industry on behalf of The Magenta Project.
It is also going to be a year to give back and I will be increasing my voluntary commitments. Upon successful completion of the training weekend I will be starting as a Community First Responder. This allows me to continue to practise and train my medical skills whilst helping the community.
February will then see me return to the Middle East where I will re-join Oman Sail Women’s Race Team taking part in Sailing Arabia The Tour. It is a different route this year starting in Dubai before visiting Qatar and then returning to Oman. Whilst in Dubai I will also be the keynote speaker for a Marketing for Women Conference.
I am also excited to have joined a cool team at WiSP Sports. We are The Global Women’s Sports Network. We are on all social media channels with a new website coming soon. I launch a new sailing show this week as well as joining Wisp Sports Magazine show regularly.
All in all a good start to the year. Lets hope I can keep the momentum going for the rest of the year.
