As we move into April and our national lockdown starts to ease, many of you will be looking forward to getting back out on or in the water. The global pandemic restrictions have seen a huge reduction in both commercial and leisure craft activity and this has no doubt been good news for marine life and ocean health generally. As life returns to normality, it is the perfect time to assess the impact we each have on the environment and take what steps we can to ensure the continued health of our waterways as we take to the water once again.
My article in the latest edition of Yachting Monthly talks about sustainability across the industry as a whole and offers some suggestions for small changes for leisure craft owners that are likely to have a big impact if widely adopted. As the old adage goes…if no one is responsible, then everyone’s responsible. I urge you to see what changes you can apply so that we can all continue to enjoy our beautiful ocean environment.
